This year I've been experimenting with images that can be duplicated and set up as image panels specifically for fabric in mind
Here are some I made earlier...

Gabby Malpas fabric panels
As I get all of my work scanned and digitised, I have started collaborating with other artists and creatives to creat images that can be printed as fabric and fabric panels.
This is a reworked panel from Roy and Emma's tripdich last year. The top panel I envisage to be printed as curtain panels - lined/framed by duck egg blue coloured silk.
The 'topsy-turvy' image is perfect for table runners or even a dress panel.
This work was completed by David Myers of Digital Masters. He's been digitising my work since last year and he's brilliant!

Gabby Malpas designs in New York!
These photos are of a wedding dress made from Gabby Malpas fabric designs ordered from spoonflower.com. The wedding was in New York.
Ava got in touch regarding these designs and kindly sent me the photos for use. Ava is Professor Ava Chin of the 'Urban forager' blog fame from the NY Times. Here is a link to her site.
She wanted to fuse modern NY with her heritage and this is the beautiful end result. What a gorgeous bride!
Congratulations Ava!
The dress was designed and made by Kimera Design in Brooklyn, NY.

Commission - work in progress pictures
Forgive the irregular posts. For the last couple of weeks I have been working on my largest commission to date for clients in the UK.
This one was to incorporate English cottage/woodland flowers, pet cats, a pet parrot, a peacock, some blue and white ceramics, mauve rhododendrons and various other bits and pieces that have some meaning in the couple's lives.
Here is a picture diary of progress to date following a rough sketch for approval in June:

and more pattern repeat designs...
I am really channeling the blue and white theme here. I am intending for the birds, butterflies and other items to be 'woven' into the design.
And here are some images of flowers and berries specifically for these designs - just as scanned. You can see I ran out of paper for the 2nd camellia so had to glue another strip on:

Chinoiserie pattern images
So here are some ideas for my chinoiserie inspired textile designs. Him indoors is currently scanning the bigger and more realistic images of camelias, Australian lily pilly (monkey apples), and citrus to complete the selection. I think mixing realistic and fantasy images might be interesting.
As these will all be 'cut up' in Photoshop and rearranged, they are not presented s finished 'pictures'.
I'm channeling Manuel Canovas' designs below: isn't this gorgeous??!! I love the duck egg blue background!

We've returned from our annual holidays.
This year was Sri Lanka with a short stopover in Penang, Malaysia.
Here is the haul of gorgeous fabrics: have you ever seen such mad patterns and colour combinations on fabric?
