Gabby Malpas new website

Well it's time.

In fact it's more than time.  I've been meaning to separate out my painting from my other activities but also get a new website up and running where I can show my pictures.

So first up is a new business card and a holding page.

Thanks to my niece the very lovely and talented Miss Emma Harris of London town for the superb designs as ever.

Seed Packets

Here are some of my favourite seed packet designs.

OK - ones that fitted onto one PPT slide - there are currently 15 types and counting.

Missing from this image: Helenium, Rudbeckia and Echinacea.

Look for me on etsy and Andable.

Studio snapshots - end of Winter 2012

This season's crop of japonicas, camelias, mandarins, magnolias, ranunculus and hellebores... plus assorted ceramics.

Sew Make Create Opening

This is Melissa Tan and her husband on the Sew Make Create studio, store and workshop opening day, in Chippendale, Sydney at the beginning of August.

They are now running a series of creative workshops: crochet, sewing, card making and jewellery.  I am offering watercolour workshops for beginners.

Any takers?

New tote bags

Some of the new bags I have made for my online stores at etsy  and Andable.
Vintage kimono fabrics, tapestry, a piece of amazing bird printed fabric found by my friend Maria, and recycled tablesloths, dressmaking offcuts and batiks.

There will be more in the next few days so be sure to check back.

Aaaaaand Peonies

And here is the peonies picture I started at the end of last year and finished last week.

I am moving towards the lighter, less cluttered backgrounds which are this year's favourites.

Notice how peonies are a Spring flower in Australia, Hibiscus is a Summer flower and camelias - especially these little pink ones, are a feature of early Winter.

So it really did take half a year to complete!

More new work

So these are my two latest pictures - thanks to camelias from Ian's garden in St Ives, hellebores from Sarah's garden in Yetholme and the camelias I 'acquired' one night in Rozelle after a girls' night at the pub.

The images are 57cm x 101cm each.  Watercolour, collage and pencil on paper.

The image with the blue teapot carries an antique document from France, the yellow teapot image carries a document dated 1709 - the date is now embedded within the green waves of the yellow teapot's lower right hand corner.
